Hey Guys! It's Donna, Frankie's critique partner from the FNC.
I don't know if you guys know this, but Frankie's been saying for months that she wants to finish the current revision of her WIP* before the clock strikes 2010. Wants to, wants to, wants to, but hasn't gotten there quite yet. The woman needed a challenge--in between fighting her blog wars.. So I'm hijacking Frankie Writes to publicly challenge her to walk the talk and finish the darn thing by 11:59PM, January 1, 2010.
* By the way, her WIP is crazyyyyyyy long (468 pages long). This is no easy task.
The Terms:
If Frankie succeeds... she gets to post a vlog of me baking her a vegan cake.
- I do not bake. When I do, it's never from scratch. Premade boxed mixes and rolls of refrigerated cookie dough are my friends. Half the time the cookie dough doesn't even make it to the oven. When it does, it burns.
- I've never made anything vegan in my life. Even my salads have cheese. I do not speak "soy" or "dairy alternatives."
- I've never vlogged. And from my experience "acting" in the eighth grade production of The Taming of the Shrew, I know the camera hates me. Bad camera.
- How is this a win for Frankie, considering my 98% chance of failure? Not so sure. Probably because it ensures epic hilarity. I'm keeping a fire extinguisher handy. But maybe, just maybe, it will lead to cake.
If Frankie fails... she will vlog an entire scene from Clueless. I'm talking every character, plus Cher's monologue narration. With actual acting. I've seen her do this before, and it's ridiculous. I kind of want her to fail for this reason. It may not rank with her Shakira video Deal with the Universe, but it'll be a close second.
Either way, I think it's a win for you guys -- SOMEONE will be making an idiot of themselves for your viewing pleasure.
Now I'm going to get back to revising my WIP... because if I've learned anything from your blog wars, it's to expect retribution.
Ok Frankie---go revise!!!
Frankie's Response
Ok Donna! It's on! I'm going to do everything in my will power to start the new year with my WIP revised! Whooo. Also, expect your own challenge to be issued at the FNC tomorrow!
Now off to revise, because despite what Donna says, you don't want to see me reenact Clueless!
Well, since I'm all for Frankie's vlogs, I really could go either way. But since I don't know Donna, and Frankie seems insistent upon making me chair dance to Barry White while reciting a flash based on my godawful high-school angst fiction, I'll have to come down on the side of #FrankieFail. 'Cause I want to see the scene from Clueless. :)
ReplyDeleteIn an unrelated note, I'm emigrating to an undisclosed location with spotty internet access and no blog-deportation laws. Just an FYI.
Simon! First of all it's a chair wiggle, second, you're the one who mentioned Barry White-not me. I can't believe you're on the side of #Frankiefail!!! So cruel!
ReplyDeleteAnd you can't emigrate to a place woth no blog-deportation laws---everyone knows those places don't exist!
Hm...I'm torn.
ReplyDeleteThere's the Shannon who just had to sell her soul to her husband to make him play Grog and then spend an hour recording/mixing audio and now has at least another hour or two of searching for and editing together images to match the audio--all to make a movie that will be horrible and humiliating and probably come back to haunt her for years and years to come. That Shannon is voting #FrankieFail--bigtime!
But then there's the other side of Shannon who remembers that you were one of the very early followers of my blog (whereas I'm not even certain if Donna is a follower) and have been a big support with my draft and, well, lets face it, fears horrible retribution in future blog war battles. That Shannon votes #DonnaFail
So I guess I'll be happy either way.
PS: Lookout, my goal is to get this stupid movie done as soon as I possibly can because I have AWESOME punishment for you in return. :)
Go Frank-ie! Go Frank-ie! Go! Go! Go Frank_ie! *imagine as chanted by a gaggle of cheerleaders*
ReplyDeleteI do believe in fairies - um, Fran
You go, girl! ;-)
Shannon M, when it comes to WIPs...there are no blog wars:-)Right? Right? HAHAHA!
ReplyDeleteShannon O--YAY! Thank you for the support! I want me some cake!
Yeah I'm in a competition to do this too, except I'm pretty sure there are no stakes or prizes.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the wrong competition! LOL
Good luck dear. I'll be sending over that chapter this morning. Hope you enjoy my thoughts. I did my best to put #windinyourhaaaiiiirrrr
All I have to say is good luck!! It sounds like you might need it either way. lol
ReplyDelete1. It is hilarious that this post is titled so similarly to my post from yesterday, and I promise I didn't rip your idea off, because I just now read it.
ReplyDelete2. I really want to see Frankie succeed, but OMG CLUELESS? REALLY??!!?? Could you have picked anything more awesome? So I guess I will be quite proud if you finish, and I'll happily break out the popcorn if you don't.
3. I like lists, possibly more than I like #hashtags.
Simon - Chair dance to Barry White? I'd be voting #FrankieFail too!
ReplyDeleteShannon - Despite my aversion to vlogging, I kinda hope she wins too! And I check your blog so frequently I never realized I wasn't a follower! (And I promise to stop lurking and leave more comments.)
Shannon O - If I burn my house down, I'm blaming your good vibes! :)
Marybeth - I'm working hard on revising too, so you're not alone! Although... I probably should be getting back to that...
Nisa - Yes! Thank you!
Heather -
1) Your post title was lovely. The similarity just means that we're both brilliant title-makers.
2) And, yes, Clueless is amazing.
3) And so are lists. Wow -- I think you're my new best friend! haha
This is tough one...as much as I want to see Clueless, I'm gonna be nice and cheer Frankie on! I've read up to chapter 16 of her WIP and NEED to know it ends...come on Frankie! You can do it!
ReplyDeletehaha, this is great. Good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteFun to find other writers on here:-)
Happy writing!!!
Hmmm...I've never been one to wish failure upon anyone (most certainly not lovies like Frankie), but I'm sort of leaning in that direction...a vlog of Clueless, Frankie finishes her WIP...tricky indeed. Alright, I'll offer my best wishes for the big finish because I'm sweet like that, but if she fails and has to do a vlog of Clueless, I'm so allowed to enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteHope you're both having a wonderful holiday season.
I want to see the Clueless scene :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your revisions!
Marybeth, clearly you should only enter competitions that end with the possibility of Clueless reenactments. Also your comments were great!!
ReplyDeleteNisa--Thanks, you're right, I need it!!
Heather, Hahaha you and Donna picked the same sort of title at probably the same time, awesome!!
And thanks...somehow I think the Clueless scene is going to happen either way....especially when Shannon is involved. But I hope for cake!
Also I love lists too, but #hashtagsaremoreawesome
Thanks Kelly, and yeah oy I forgot Ive been keeping you in suspense! You'll know how it ends soon!
Donna, haha I love how you came to comment on all the comments--since this is your post after all;)
Hi JMay! Nice to meet you and thanks!!!
Carolina, hahahaha yeah we made the punishment a little too fantastic, you should have heard the original idea...but I didnt want to punish everyone reading my blog with my punishment, not everyone should suffer:-) Thanks for the support though!
VS. Hahaha thanks, who knows maybe both will happen.
I'm looking forward to Frankie failing (I love you Frankie!) How can I root for two opposite things so adamantly? :)'
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't wait to see what Shannon has planned for you Frankie.
I love this challenge! It's a win/win for your dedicated followers. Can't. Wait.
