Random Things on a Wednesday

Guys! It's officially spring! I'm so excited I don't know what to do with myself. Despite the fact that we had such a mild winter with almost (cries) no snow, I'm really happy to be moving into this flowery, bright, happy uplifting season of the year.

And one of my favorite parts is when all the magnolia trees bloom! They're so pretty and the flowers only last a few days so I always make sure to take pictures when it happens.
I tried to take interesting shots. I desperately want to take a photography class--placing that on a short term goals list. Hopefully some time will open up soon for that.

Speaking of learning new things...I just got obsessed with this youtube channel Let's Make It Up. This girl is amazing and can recreate any hairstyle ever. And she braids her hair like a beast. I never could do more than a regular braid before, but after a few "obsessive" hours of watching her tutorials, I can french braid, dutch braid, fishtail braid, four strand braid--sorry guy followers--I know you NEEDED to know that. But I am so proud of myself for learning this. Kind of like when I finally learned how to knit.

If any of you girls are interested (or guys!), here's one of her tutorials.

I'm going to try and rock a certain type of braid tomorrow night....
Because I'm seeing The Hunger Games at midnight! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! I am so excited!

Is anyone else going to a midnight show? Can you believe it's finally here????

  1. Such pretty picture of those flowers! Spring is such a wonderful season. Here in New York we literally just skipped winter, only had one major snow fall with no delays or snow days, and jumped straight into Spring. And that tutorial is wonderful! I'm always looking for a new way to style my hair and having a Katniss inspired one sounds grand! Thanks for sharing and also enjoy the midnight release. Everyone that is working on my school's musical is banned to go see it at midnight for the sake of our opening night on Friday, but do enjoy!

  3. I've tried learning how to French braid my own hair but it's SO HARD. I need a third hand. Maybe this tutorial will be better because I definitely want to rock Katniss's braid! Thanks for the tip. :)

I'm definitely seeing the movie though not sure when yet! It's getting great reviews and seems to be faithful to the book. I'm excited about that!!

    1. I think the tutorial will help. I seriously was convinced french braiding was just one of those things I'd never ever do and then bam, it just made sense. I am SO excited for the movie--everything I hear about it is amazing!

  4. Hi Frankie! Beautiful shots. I still suck at braiding. Thank God my sister is a master, otherwise my poor little girls would have braids that fell out all over the place.

PS I just attempted to tag you in a Lucky 7 meme...if you have zero time to do it, no worries :)

    1. Hi jaybird! Thank you! I'm still trying to become a master...it's tough! But I'm thrilled I can just do it at all. And thanks for tagging me! I got tagged on FB for that and posted it there:)

  5. Love all the randomness, Frankie. I've been following your blog for many years now and never commented-I know I know- but now I finally got one of my own. :-D I am so excited for the Hunger Games, though it is soooo funny to see everyone in Boston reading it on the subway, on my college campus, etc. I read them when they first came out-2008, 2009 and 2010 (lol I vividly remember asking David Levithan at a book conference if he could just slip me Mockingjay L-O-L!). I can't wait to see the movie...I am seeing it Friday night with a friend who *just* read the book.
    Best,
    Rachel

    1. Hi Rachel! *virtual hug* I love hearing that you've been following for so long! Please feel free to comment away:) Isn't it fun seeing people actually reading the book! I love that! So since it's after Friday, did you see it? What did you think?
